Time 10 am – 4 pm

Spend any time watching your gardens birds and you’ll soon discover what a fascinating bunch they really are – and what different lives they all lead. It might be a blackbird preening its feathers, or a cheeky gang of long-tailed tits on your fat ball feeder.

This weekend, in preparation for Big Garden Birdwatch, we’ll be keeping a close eye on the birds who visit our feeders, we can give you tips on identifying your dinner guests, and advice on how to attract birds to your garden. Whilst you’re here, pick up your Big Garden Birdwatch Survey Form and stock up on bird seed. Wild families – come along and make your own natural bird feeder.

Date with Nature – winter predators and prey
Date: Thursday 02 February – Sunday 05 February
Time: Drop in between 10 am – 3 pm
Cost: Just pay the normal nature trail entry fee.
Celebrating world wetlands day on Thursday 02 February – free entry to all!
You’re looking out over the wetlands and everything seems peaceful; the herds of wigeon are gently whistling as they graze, the mallards are quacking and you can hear the honking of geese. Suddenly thousands, yes literally thousands, of birds take off and there are ducks and lapwings and geese whirling around the skies in a panic. For a few minutes chaos ensues – it must be a peregrine. You scan around and there she is, in hot pursuit of her prey. On this occasion she returns to her perch empty-taloned – even the fastest creature in the world sometimes finds catching her dinner hard work!
